Gabriel Harris has been following a path with the African djembe drum for 20 years. An accomplished performer, educator, and innovative artist, he seeks to peel away the layers of meaning in our playing, and use the drum to bring us closer to our essence. Born into an exceptionally musical and politically active family, Gabe has a unique understanding of the role music plays in our lives.
Gabe is the Founder and Executive Director of Rhythm Village, an interactive event company in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has studied African drumming with Babatunde Olatunji, Mamady Keita, M’bemba Bangoura, and many other masters.
Gabriel began studying shamanism and shamanic journeying with Michael Harner and is seeking to integrate this work with his work in African drumming. He has taken the Two Week Shamanic Healing Intensive with the Foundation, studying with Alicia L. Gates.
